I have a 461 7.8 compression in my Camaro I have been testing, I ported some 236 Peanut Port heads and this engine makes mounds of torque. The PP are easier to work on and will make more power everywhere in the power range.

WebDec 16, 2015 · They're kind of a bastard engine that don't like Mark IV heads, but they can be made to work without leaking coolant into the lifter valley. If this is a daily driver, try to find some Gen 6 Vortec heads (L29). They should fit the block with no issue and will definitely make more power than the peanut port heads that are on it now. WebAug 14, 2016 · I have a 540 GenV block based engine from Scott Schafiroff and it runs fine. The "trick" with these blocks is using the correct headgaskets so you can use a good aftermarket head. The factory, non-adjustablre valvetrain is junk and the heads just can't match the aftermarket.
